Created an Access database for storage of customer information, services information, and appointment information. Used ADO.NET OleDbDataAdapter data Provider to interface to the Microsoft Jet 4.0 database engine to interface to the ACCESS database. Calendar is refreshed from the database as each Day / week is selected. Appointment edits are stored in the DB to guarantee data retention and the screen display is refreshed.

         Solution architecture project included practical experience of requirement development from interviews with a customer and translation of requirements into screen designs and a functional specification for the .NET application. Created Visio screen layouts for 9 Windows functional application screens, and a Visio Object Model and a Visio database Schema for the Student / course management application for TrainingNH. Created a 29 page functional specification for the .NET TrainingNH application design. Assisted instructor in the implementation of this training section.

Major Accomplishments:

         Key Contributor to Optical Network Navigator (ONNS) systems architecture, RoseRT OO design process advocate, and key contributor to the overall development and test process. Required to work with a team of people to define the development process to be used and worked with software developers implementing the interactive RUP / OO design, supplying system engineering requirements, and actively participating in design reviews.

         Designed the TL1 interface of the Optical Network Navigator (ONNS) distributed automated optical path provisioning & path restoration system. Led system engineering definition of the ONNS network management interface for Lucent. Reviewed MPLS/LDP & RSVP use in ONNS system.

         Network management interface architect tasked with the ONNS developers in many cycles of iterative OO design and development. One of the few members of team which had gone through iterative OO development process training and worked closely with models for the rest of our developers. This project required a lot of mentoring, teaching, and explaining the intent of the process. Provided design reviews and inspected UML use-case diagrams, sequence diagrams, class diagrams and object models, requirements use-case documents, interface specs and code, and overall system design documents. Provided development iterations were initially 5-6 weeks, shortening to 3-4 week cycles as the prototype became a more robust and feature rich framework.

         Worked with software developers during reviews to interpret client Network Navigation systems requirements. Participated in the iterative Object-Oriented (OO) RoseRT design methodology process chosen for this project. Mentored new team members/developers on the iterative design process involving concurrent requirements development. This was done to accelerate the software development. Fostered system engineering / software developer teamwork in the Network Navigation iterative OO development environment. Reviewed the IP/OSPF implementation in ONNS system,

         Planned and implemented the initial system testing to verify Software Engineering requirements compliance. Defined network test configuration files to facilitate the testing of provisioning features. Provided support and testing strategies for ONN software testers. Supported ONN integration with Network Element (NE) software and hardware, and was the ONNS systems engineering representative on software problem review board. System Verification Test Project leader

Major Accomplishments:

         System Verification Test Project lead engineer for a SVT & regression automation on Wave-Star TDM 2.5G/10G Multiplexer project. Formed a team of Quality Assurance (QA) technical resources. Responsible for screening and building of this team of QA resources supporting this project.

         Created the design of an automated regression test platform supporting the 2.5 Gigabit TDM. Set up regression testing and automation script development that was configurable to run on the SVT Lab configurations as well as the configurable regression test platform.

         Defined the test strategy for the automated regression testing, including creation of prototype scripts to demonstrate the process for writing configuration adaptable test scripts

         Planned the optical path switching and fixed test configurations to allow the automated regression platform to be electronically re-configurable into multiple3-4 node BLSR configurations. Korn shell scripts were used to test the TL1 interface to the TDM 2.5G shelf, and control test sets and optical switches via the GPIB bus.

         Constructed the TDM2.5G Network Element (NE) shelf in 2 node BLSR ring configurations, including debug, and set up of OC3/OC12/OC48 circuit packs, Verified the NE operation via the PC based Craft Interface Terminal (PC-CIT) and wrote Korn shell setup scripts to initialize each NE.

         Wrote Korn shell test scripts to implement first pass Test cases for an optical cross connect test plan. Scripts are designed to read test-bed configuration files and adapt to the specific shelf hardware configuration, and step through tests for each optical circuit pack in the shelf.

Software Configuration Manager / Release Engineer

Major Accomplishments:

         Senior Software Release engineer - Set up parallel build environments to allow conversion of source code from MKS Integrity SCM to MS SourceSafe.

         Wrote automated build scripts and created the source code control / build environment to store, compile and integrate the complete product code base. The build scripts automatically retrieved the source code from the MKS Integrity source code control management system to a NT Server build directory structure and compiled the current code.

Software Release Manager / Software Project Manager

Major Accomplishments:

         Senior technical resource responsible for set up of Software build and Software configuration control processes supporting client WaveStar Access Multiplexer project. This effort required the use of C++, object-oriented (OO) embedded software. It was done in support of a distributed processor transmission control architecture. Developed a working knowledge of the distributed processor transmission control architecture and the OO software architecture.

         Moved to the Software Project Release coordinator role, and was responsible for coordinating the software build process to integrate incoming Software modules. These modules were submitted to Unix Clear-Case in solution branches.

         Worked coordinating build and test of new BWM software and controlling the integrity of the software main code-line with two other software coordinators. Expediting fixes, tracking the build process, and assignment of DDTS MR's (defects) to appropriate developers.

         Selected code submissions to be integrated to facilitate software function rollout. Worked to redefine the software integration process for the current release. WBM Project has >200 software developers and >40 SQA testers in 3 locations.

Major Accomplishments:

         Responsible to set up Continuus Configuration Management software system for Unix server and Windows environments. The purpose of this was to control software build and release to SQA. This project required the development of quality assurance and Configuration Management process for a series of strategic client server software projects.

         Wrote build release and distribution scripts to deliver products for SQA system testing. Wrote scripts to support interim manual CM process until developers were on line. Created software build make files that adapted to continuous methodology and file structure to minimize work involved in product release. Provided training classes, support, & mentoring of users of development system.

Major Accomplishments:

         Project Manager responsible for the implementation of company LiveScheduler client server software to internal video conferencing sites. Created an evolving multiphase implementation plan to track their changing business needs. Provided user training and support consultation.

         Responsible for SCO UNIX 5.02 system administration and design, setup a secure server with limited user access. Required to interface with senior technicians to define and configure UNIX TCP/IP networking. This allowed the server to integrate with PictureTel computing environment.

         Designers of telephone switch controller and applications software for the Excel switch platform. Responsibilities included SQA system testing of new NT-based XNT distributed switch platform. Created unified test plans for existing ADS applications to provide ISO documented SQA testing. Created test plans for the new prepaid cellular debit card application and implemented debug and application testing to qualify this new systems product for beta release.

         New product champion duties include building, loading software, defining system installation requirements, system debug and test, and final SQA system acceptance testing. Worked on software distribution and SQA testing methodology to meet Telecom and ISO standards.

Major Accomplishments:

         Responsible for SQA testing of product software, implementation, control and building of new product software release kits. Set up software SQA testing and software release management process to bring some order to typical chaotic environment of start up.

         Chief Architect of SW test plan strategy, created test plans, and implemented SW testing on DOS, Windows, Windows NT, SCO, Sun Solaris 2.5, SunOS 4.1, and HP-UX platforms.

         Setup the automated software tests of the EMS product via tests scripts and an in-house test tool to exercise the EMS APIs. Did EMS product interoperability testing between platforms.

         Managed the SW bug tracking function, and brought in Rational ClearCase for release control.

         Defined the Digital / SPRINT requirements for the ATM Switch management and network alarm monitoring system for a T3 mesh network. Major Accomplishments:

         Responsible for performance management of engineers and project managers in the Telecom group and project staffing needs. Responsible for design reviews of requirement documents, top-level design and detailed design docs.

         Managed the initial requirement phase of the AT&T DATAKIT / DECxpress100 project, setting up the project plans for the DXG100 server Software & Hardware projects, and the VMS gateway client. The project had an 18-month schedule and the most extensive system test that the T&N-EIC had ever done.

         After the Top level design reviews, the project was split into three projects each with its own project manager and I managed the resource requirements and planned the system test. Managed assignment of Software & Hardware engineers and system resources, did performance reviews, goal setting, salary administration, administered training program, consulted on Software & Hardware projects.

         Responsible for technical reviews of project documents, and reviewed engineering quotes for new business. Mentors project managers and assisted in project management by interviewing and hiring all contractors, wrote consultant contracts and handled relations with contractor personnel agencies.

         Developed system test strategies to maintain quality standards and maintained project staffing plans. Managed the initial requirement phase, set up project, coordinated the functional specification preparation and Top Level Design.

Manager of DFMS Product Development

Major Accomplishments:

         Responsible for software, firmware, and hardware development of the Digital Facilities Maintenance System (DFMS) product line. Responsible for planning the evolution of DFMS system, working with marketing to define new system feature requirements and to deliver the feature groups on a timely release schedule.

         Departmental responsibilities included technical supervision of twelve engineers. Project scheduling, departmental staffing and staff planning, project definition and budgetary control of 2.8 to 3.7 Million in R&D budget.

         Product definition with Marketing for the DFMS product line and planning for product release schedules. The design of modular, microprocessor-based data acquisition unit, monitor and report alarm inputs, and activate control points. Worked with the software QA rep to institute mandatory design reviews with QA of the top-level design specs. On the next series of projects, we added detailed design reviews and code reviews on key software modules, and continued the Process improvements with each new set of development projects meeting higher levels of quality reviews.

         Technical direction for a Software unit manager and a team of twelve software engineers designing a Digital VAX-based application software package to display network alarm information & status.

         Managed initial field trials at Verizon and Bell Canada.

         Responsible for Definition, design, development of a modular line of microprocesor based telephone maintenance equipment and a systems controller.

         T1-Carrier maintenance controller design and hardware / software tradeoff with various processors.

Responsible for engineering design and development and testing for several Bell Labs departments.

Major Accomplishments:

         Design of all PLL loops of a modular microwave generator for 4, 6, and 11 GHZ Bell Radio systems and coordinated with packaging engineer to integrate all of the microwave modules.

         Design and development of a 6 GHZ IMPATT Diode Cavity stabilized Local Oscillator for WECO TM‑2 Radio System.

         Development of a precision millimeter wave delay scanner for evaluation of envelope delay distortion.

         Development of a precision transmission test system for 3.7 - 4.2 GHZ components.
