Experience

DRS Infrared Technologies (TI subsidiary) (Contract) January 2001 – May 2001

Title: Technical Architect/Software Engineer

Duties: Collecting requirements for, designing, and constructing scalable XML/XSL based web applications. Encapsulated core back-end functionality in VB COM objects with a view towards .NET technologies. (IIS/ XML/ XSL/ XMLHTTP/ Visual Basic 6.0/ Interdev/ SQL Server 7.x/ IE 5.x extensions/ HTML/ DHTML/ JavaScript/ VBScript/ ADO/ COM)

Dallas Semiconductor (Contract) June 2000 – January 2001

Title: Technical Architect/Software Engineer

Duties: Collecting requirements for, designing, and constructing browser-based reporting tools in support of an I2 implementation. (IIS/Visual Basic 6.0/Interdev/Oracle 8i/XML/XSL)

*BizApps.net became a dot.com victim of the stock market. I decided to contract for a short period before accepting another pemanent position.

BizApps.Net (Permanent) November 1995 – June 2000

Title: Partner/Vice President of Systems Design

Duties: Assisted in customer requirements collection and definition, architecting systems (high and low level) to meet those requirements, and leading the technical development efforts for various aspects of each project. Required extensive technical expertise as well as mature management skills. Accustomed to an environment with multiple simultaneous projects that must interact within an overall solution. A few projects are described below (participated in requirements collection, design, implementation, and leadership on all projects):

BizApps.Net Corporate Web Site – Designed and implemented the web presence including content and graphics. (ASP/ DreamWeaver/ Photoshop/HTML/ DHTML/ JavaScript/ VBScript)

Consulting Company Intranet/Extranet– Designed and implemented the corporate web presence including intranet applications to support receivables and payables, consultant time tracking, employee benefits, and client access. (VB/ SQL Server/ IIS/ Interdev/ Java/ JSP/ XML/ Visual Café, Photoshop/ HTML/ DHTML/ JavaScript/ VBScript)

AP/AR System – Designed and implemented an AR/AP system for a Fortune 500 client in their AP headquarters. Used Delphi and Visual Basic for 3 separate desktop applications, a browser interface using ASP employing COM components written in Visual C++, Delphi, and Visual Basic, Delphi and Visual Basic for a complex, scriptable mid-tier business layer, and Oracle as the database. A legacy mainframe application was integrated via EDI. One desktop application employed a sophisticated 3-D barcode method to transfer digital information on paper. Supports 1,000 concurrent users.

Document Management System – Designed and implemented a custom document management system designed for the Internet. Used Visual Basic to create ASP-aware Com components, Delphi to implement the business and data logic layer, and SQL Server as the database. All functionality was encapsulated in COM objects to ensure speed and stability.

Governmental On-line Interface – Designed and implemented a solution to provide on-line access to regulatory documents and information. Enhanced a PowerBuilder application with the solution to provide seamless access to internal users. Used COM objects in ASP as well as PowerBuilder to provide on-line access, as well as Delphi to support off-line submissions. Sybase was used as the database.

Insurance Claims Automation – Designed and implemented a solution to integrate legacy mainframe applications with optical media. Used Delphi and Visual Basic for the front-end applications. Oracle was used for the database.

Oil/Gas Rights Archival – Designed and implemented an internal solution to provide access to optical and magnetic media. Used Visual Basic and Delphi to create both front-end and back-end applications, as well as modifying an existing PowerBuilder application. Oracle was used as the database.
