For almost 10 years Justin’s core focus has been in the design, development, and optimization of the Hyperion Systems suite of products.   His enterprise exposure has been within the manufacturing, transportation, and property management industries.   Justin holds certifications in Hyperion Essbase and Hyperion System 9 Planning.  His Finance degree and working knowledge of accounting and financial applications compliments his technical capabilities.

Project highlights:

Ø       Assisted in the development of the  System 9 architecture, and development of the system security

Project highlights:

  • Upgraded the functionality of the client’s Hyperion Planning application The Planning and accompanying

Ø       Recreated the application, Web-input forms, and user task lists

Ø       Broke one dimension out into three separate dimensions to reduced inter-dimensional irrelevance

Ø       Configured the Hyperion Workspace and related components

Ø       Configured the managing of dimensional models which were used in the sharing of hierarchies between the applications

Hotel Management Company, Hyperion Planning Lead Developer

Project highlights:

  • System 9 Upgrade and Installation 

Ø       Fully installed and migrated the client's existing 4.x Hyperion Planning system

Ø       Migrated and adjusted security where needed via Shared Services and the Workspace.

Ø       System upgrade and configuration included Planning, Reports, Shared Services, and Interactive Reporting

   

Property Management Company, Project Lead

Project highlights:

  • Planned and performed the upgrade from Hyperion Reports 2.0 to Reports 7.2.1

Ø       multi-version upgrade required extensive planning and testing

Ø       SQL Server repository tables were upgraded multiple times due to the required incremental

Hyperion Reports installations.   Multiple hardware upgrades were required to support the new Hyperion Reports installation.  We utilized staging environments to upgrade multiple versions of the Windows Server operating system before releasing the upgrade.

Ø       Created XML scripts for automated Hyperion Report batch processing.  The automated processing resulted in a cost savings on product licensing.  All reports exported to PDF format for portability and compliance standards.

Ø       Performed an Essbase Upgrade from 6.x to 7.x

Ø       The same risks present for the Reports upgrade were mitigated during the Essbase upgrade.

Ø       Successful planning and testing methods were used to upgrade the system.

  • Developed a rollback plan in case release criteria was not satisfied after the production upgrade

 

Major League Baseball Team, Project Lead

Project highlights:

  • Successfully redesigned an Essbase Profit and Loss / Balance Sheet database.  The old database was transformed from a highly sparse and attribute driven database to a traditional high-density block and efficiently index driven system.
  • Changed Attribute Dimensions to Sparse Dimension, to increase the performance of the cube
  • Calculation scripts were altered to fit the new outline structure
  • The new Essbase structure highlighted a departmental structure issue within the company accounting system.  These enhancements allowed management to see it immediately
  • Hyperion Reports were updated to the new structure of the Essbase database.   Benefiting from the re-structure of the Essbase system, the departmental report run-time was reduced from 45 minutes to under 2 minutes.

 

Home Entertainment Company, Project Lead

Project called for a Performance Management solution utilizing their operational data store feeding a data warehouse and transactional reporting system

  • Implemented the entire Brio suite of products (Hyperion Intelligence) on an AS/400 mainframe system.  Data was then pulled from the new SAP system
  • SQL scripts were developed to access the DB2 AS/400 data
  • The Brio Insight tool was used as the primary delivery tool for end-users

Project highlights:

  • Developed of a corporate income statement and forecasting model using the Hyperion Planning software package.  The core responsibilities of the project were:

Ø       Calculation Script and Business Rule development and quality assurance

Ø       Web Form creation and testing

Ø       Calculation of CAPX and other expenditures

Ø       Performed data validation checks from the production mainframe reporting system to the new Hyperion Planning system data validation

Project highlights:

  • Developed of a corporate income statement and forecasting model using the Hyperion Planning software package.  The core responsibilities of the project were:
  • Visual Basic and Excel were used to develop the data input templates which were used during the forecasting process
  • Provided production support for database administrators during post project training
