Duties: C#/.NET work on the Charles Thompson Lobbyist System, a web application which allows political lobbyists and their clients to log into a web site and check the status of legislative bills they are interested in, who the donors are of a lawmaker, etc.  Wrote backend C# and C++.NET code to screen scrape HTML and populate the SQL Server database.

    Converted VB 6.0 code to C# and the .NET platform, giving this software more robustness and smoothing future development.

 

WILTEL COMMUNICATIONS, (formerly Williams Communications Group), Tulsa, OK

1999–2002

Senior IT Developer

 

Duties: C/C++ developer for Vyvx Advertising Distribution group.  Heavy use of C++, COM, ATL, MFC, and STL.  Projects included working on the Pitch/Catch server, a digital MPEG distribution system delivering advertising spots via satellite to TV stations around the country.  Vela and Stradis APIs and hardware were used.

    Wrote code that when sent over the satellite, updated the firmware at 500+ TV stations; saved the company the cost of manually installing the firmware updates.

    Designed and wrote a GUI “diagnostic page’ which incorporated info from the Event Viewer, registry, and other system health statistics; allowed end users to view this information in one place and save time.

    Wrote a web server which served out the spot inventory to the internal TV station network, allowing anyone with network access to view the catch server inventory.

 

PARDALIS SOFTWARE, Stillwater, OK

1996–1999

Independent Contractor

 

Duties: C/C++ developer for Facility Realm, a hazardous chemical management system.  This software managed  MSDS information and SARA, Title III compliance.  Experience with Borland C++ 5.x, OWL, C++ Builder 4.0, VCL.  Used CodeBase for the database engine.

    Implemented software which allowed clients to use Pardalis MSDS management software and save the cost of hiring an environmental lawyer for hazardous chemical and MSDS reporting to the EPA.

 

ESKER, (formerly Teubner and Associates), Stillwater, OK

1997–1999

Software Developer/Designer

 

Duties: C/C++ developer for Faxgate group.  Use of Win32 API and MFC.  Projects included working with the C++ STL, ATL classes, and data access such as ADO and DAO.  Major projects included the Faxgate preprocessor, host links, and the directory connectors (COM servers).  This fax server worked with the Brooktrout fax API.  Previously, was an independent contractor to Teubner working with 16-bit Windows, FoxPro, and C/C++.  This contract work dealt with ESP, the Expert Support Program, a help desk incident system.

    Wrote the Faxgate preprocessor, which can be likened to the C++ preprocessor; allowed clients to use custom tags and keywords in their fax templates.

    Implemented COM servers using ATL which allowed faxes to be sent to Exchange servers, Lotus Domino servers, or text files.

 




CREATIVE LABS, Stillwater, OK

1993–1997

Technical Support Agent

 

Duties:  Provided technical phone support for Creative’s multimedia products.  Worked in the Windows NT and OS/2 group, supporting Sound Blaster products on these platforms.  Also supported the Video Blaster and Video Spigot on these platforms.  Promoted to Developer Support and wrote to the Sound Blaster API as well as the Windows MCI layer.

    Solved customer phone support issues, sometimes totaling over 200 calls per day out of 3,000 total.

    Answered developer questions about our APIs that allowed programmers and system integrators to write code that supported the Sound Blaster platform.

 

UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA, OCCE, Norman, OK

1992–1993

Programmer/Analyst

Duties:  Wrote client/server software using Gupta SQLWindows 3.1.2, SQLBase 5.0.2, and Microsoft LAN Manager 2.1.0.  Also used FoxPro 2.0 and Paradox on several projects.

    Addressed various normalization problems introduced by flat-file systems by using the Gupta SQL engine.

    Installed the Gupta software campus-wide to take advantage of recently installed networking technology; this leveraged the university’s investment in Novell software.

HONORS/ACTIVITIES

Wrote and sold a shareware utility which received a review in the April ’96 BYTE magazine.

Member of OU Finance Club while attending school.

(wrote a database application for them which tracks membership and other items.  This was written in Clipper).
