NEJUG.ORG
Java developers should check out the New England Java Users Group web site. They sponser a monthy meeting with top notch speakers on a variety of Java Topics. The talks at held at the Sun campus in Burlington or at the Cross Point towers in Lowell with easy access off of route 495.
Boston Java Meetup
Java developers near Boston may be interested in the informal monthly pub meetings to socialize and discuss all topics related to Java.
BarCamp Boston - June 2006
Developers and Geeks of all kinds near Boston may be interested in the BarCamps where everyone has to give a presentation. Watch for the next one. I attended the June 2006 one held at Clock Tower Place in Maynard and hosted by Monster.com. It was very interesting though a bit chaotic with simultaneous sessions on many interesting topics from Ruby on Rails, to managing distributed teams, to programming PIC microprocessors, etc. I did a sort talk on the Java Graph Objects library offered by www.nwoods.com.

Also check out the Mass High Tech web site and sign up for their daily Tech Flash mailing list and the weekly Mass High Tech newspaper. Stay informed of what high tech companies in Massachusetts are doing and who is buying out who.
WEBTECH
Java developers should also check out the Greater Boston Web Tech Chapter. They also sponser a monthy meeting with top notch speakers on a variety of Java Topics. The talks at held at the IBM SPC in Waltham 7 to 9 PM on the 3rd tuesday each month.
GBCACM.ORG
All programmers should check out the Greater Boston Chapter web site of the Association for Computing Machinery. They offer variuos talks and three excellent one day tutorials in the Spring and Fall. These are cost about $80 and are usually held at MIT.
